Definition

Division

Division I = A division I atmosphere is considered potentially explosive under normal conditions.

Division II = A division II atmosphere is not normally explosive, but under “unusual conditions” can become explosive.

Class

Class I
Group A = Acetylene
Group B = Hydrogen, Butadiene, Ethylene Oxide.
Group C = Ethyl and Ether vapor.
Group D = Gasoline, Petroleum, Naphtha, Ethanol, Hexane, Benzene, Butane, Propane, Acetone, Methanol, Methane, Natural Gas.

Class II
Group E = Metal Dust
Group F = Carbon Black, Coal, Coke Dust.
Group G = Flour, Starch, Grain Dust.
